Workspace Board Guests

We're going through some changes! Trello Teams are now Workspaces. Soon, all boards will be in a Workspace. You might see us mention Teams in a few places as we're going through these changes. Thanks for your patience!

👋 Check out our article on Multi-Board Guests to learn more about the billable members on your Standard and Premium Workspace boards!

Board Guests are users that are not a member of the Trello Workspace but have been invited to a Trello Workspace's board.

The core of collaboration in Trello is the Trello Workspace. Trello Workspaces allow wide perspective and collaboration through their shared Workspace boards.  While Workspace membership is usually the best way to collaborate with other Trello users, there are some situations in which teams may prefer not to add a user to their Workspace.

For example, some teams collaborate on a one-off basis with outside contractors, interns, or clients. These one-off collaborators may not need all of the functionality or administrative control that comes with Workspace membership. In these situations, teams can add users to their Workspace boards as Guests.

Guest types and cost

While all Guests are free on free Workspace boards, Guests on Premium Class Workspace boards can incur an additional charge.

  • Free Guest: A board member who is invited to one Workspace board is a Single-Board Guest of that Workspace.
  • Billable Guest: A board member who is on two or more Standard or Premium Workspace boards is a Multi-Board Guest of that Workspace. Multi-Board Guests are billed at the same rate as a normal Workspace member.

What can a Guest do?

A Guest is a Normal board member by default and can make changes to the board like other normal board member or Workspace members. Premium Workspaces can also turn a Guest into a read-only Observer for more granular control over a Guest's ability to edit the board.

What can a Guest see?

Guests can only see the Workspace board to which they are invited; they can’t see any other Workspace boards!
